Welcome!
This is Opening Day for my new website, and I’m thrilled you could join me. It’s been an exciting summer as I’ve been putting this together in tandem with launching my new book, Dark Heat, with Genretarium Press. I’m proud of the results of both, and I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences and other bits along the way.
A little background on me - in a separate life, I teach high school English in the Boston area. I’ve been writing stories literally since I was able to scratch letters onto those half sheets of yellow paper with the green dotted lines. The first story I remember is what would now be called a “cute meet” for the characters in Dickie Lee’s song “Tell Laura I Love Her” (my mother says I always liked “death songs” when I was a child. Later I did a Star Wars parody play, which we rehearsed in recess for a week, but by fourth grade, I discovered James Bond (what Catholic elementary school puts The Spy Who Loved Me in their library?) and that was it - I was hooked.
Since then, my writing (not my penmanship) has improved, I hope. My first novel, Night of the Furies, was a retelling of the Orestes story from Greek mythology. It was included on Spinetingler’s “Best of 2013” list. Dark Heat is also based on myth, retelling the Medea and Jason story, with a contemporary twist.
So explore the site, read some stories, and if you’d like, sign up for my occasional newsletter. I’ll be making updates here as well, to talk about upcoming news, or about writing and reading in general.
Cheers!
